Itinerary

Description of the activity

During this walking tour you will learn about the Italian renaissance movement and the events that shaped the history of Florence. We will take you on a journey from the roman origins of the city until the 15th century, starting at the church of Santa Croce, the resting place of many of the illustrious of Florence, like Michelangelo and Galileo. We will see legendary attractions like the Palazzo Vecchio, the old city hall of Florence, the Mercato Nuovo, the 16th Century covered market hall, the Loggia dei Lanzi and it’s 10 renaissance statues and the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno river. You will be astonished by the sculptures at the patio in the Galleria degli Uffizi and marvel at the Santa Croce church. The end of the tour will take you to observe the dome of Brunelleschi at the monumental cathedral of the Duomo and get up close for a peek at the doors of the Baptistery. Following the footsteps of the artists, we will find out more about the cradle of the renaissance, and get to know as well the modern side of town, for a later exploration on your own.
